I am intrigued by the telephone number of this hotel. Its 6 digits. Any one got any ideas. My theory is it goes back to when there was no subscriber dialing. All calls put through by a telephonist?

The 1914 and 1927 Seeds Street directory lists this as Clarendon House Private School For Girls with Miss E S Hogben as principal.

By 1955 the PSP Street Directory lists this as the Clarendon Hotel with Mr & Mrs Astley as owners. Tel 493911.
