    help with paintings please...john....

    john i picked up three origonal paintings yesterday for a combined £48..

    just wondering what you think..

    the first two are a pair from and artist called l.e.wing (or something) and are landscape watercolours..

    the other one id an oil on board on a plaster frame,,,i cant make out the signature but will keep trying non the less..

    Looks a good buy

    The two water colours (if not prints) will get your money back and some profit.

    the other will have cost you nothing.

    The last painting on the list will look a lot better if the frame was stripped and waxed. you may get £70 for that on its own in a fair.

    i will keep looking out for auctions near derry (few and far between) maybe then i will find older paintings and older jokes too..

    hey john the last painting on this thread (the impressionist one)that you said could be worth £70 ,,well i have a little more info on it,,i think the artist's name is berni or barni,,,dont know if that rings any bells with you or not,,,its an oil on board and and the reverse side of the board that its painted on has german stickers on it (probably the manufacturer of the board itsself..how old do you think it is john??

    yeah i like it too...i have contacted sotherby's and christies art departments today to see if they can shed any light on it,,i think there are a few artist listed called berni, worth a try...it will probably be a few weeks before they get back to me on it so i will keep you posted. thanks again john

    i have also got my eye on a nice victorian oil painting on porcelain, signed and dated 1883 by an artist called f hold(also listed) i would say its excellent quality ,,,but i will get back to you on that one if i can get it at the right price..

    no, i already own it,,i am not at the stage yet where i can afford to buy to keep,i need to keep the wheels turning,,

    i am taking a stall in a newly opened antiques market before christmas that is open all week , mon-sun, may have to go part-time in my day to day job or take a chance and do the antiques full time.......
