willow pattern jars. i.d help needed
looking for help on this pair of willow pattern jars I have.
as I said , they are willow pattern, pottery not porcelain , too small for ginger jars (I don't think they ever had lids) , approx. 3.5 inch in height each.
they also have two men on the bridge instead of the more usual three.
I am trying to find out how old they are? what they would have been used for? and are they English?
thanks

Hi they are ginger jars, even though lots of different commodities where put inside them from liquids to spices.
2 men on the bridge are not what is called "willow" see my thread on willow

The photograph that shows the underneath of the jar give me the impression of some age and the pale color blue also looks like it is from at least the 1930's. There would have had a big cork stopper in the top of the jars. If you notice the blue pattern on one of the jars over laps the top of the jar, this may indicate a reproduction tourist item. without holding the items hard to give a real valuation.

they don't look modern to me john, look to date atleast 1920, nice feel to them.
they have kiln residue to the base and a gritty texture to the base aswell
if there not willow because of the two people crossing the bridge and the lack of doves. how would I describe them.

The Pattern is in the typical style of a chinese export blue and white landscape scene.
