    Rail Minister Chris-Heaton Harris said:

“I welcome the news that operators, working closely with Hitachi and the independent safety regulator, the Office of Road and Rail, have confirmed that many trains can return to the network following rigorous safety tests.

“Trains should begin to return to service after further inspections have been carried out, helping to safely restore the reliable and punctual services on GWR and LNER that passengers deserve.

"Safety is our absolute focus, which is why Hitachi will carry out a comprehensive daily testing regime on affected trains.

“The next step on the route back to normal service levels will be for Hitachi to present their long-term repair plan for the fleet. We expect to see this shortly.

“Whilst this long-term fix can partly be incorporated into the regular service pattern for these trains, we do expect disruption to services for some time to come, but hope passengers understand this work is essential to ensure these issues do not occur again.”

How exactly is this relevant to people in Ormskirk, when it refers to trains used by GWR (who run services between London and SW England) and LNER (East Coast mainline)?

Have you ever given it a thought , but obviously you haven't, that some of our folk in Ormskirk , and with lockdown easing even more so next week, that they might be considering visiting relatives , or even a Staycation Holiday, all of which are possible next week on the area covered by these services . Information is everything.

So on that basis, will QLocal be issuing travel bulletins for the whole country now going forward? If I wanted that, I'd go to a national news website - I thought QLocal was supposed to cover local news?

Instead of this, or the usual mindless dross on what Roger's seen in local back gardens, let's have some proper investigative journalism on when Merseyrail will be rolling out their new trains. At least that has some relevance for people living in Ormskirk.

Bottom line (no pun intended) is he's nothing else to write about, and he's trying to justify an existence.

I agree with you it is not nice sticking the boot into someone doing a job he is obviously not cut out for, the thief who stole his bike ladders and bucket along with his chamois and scrim has a lot to answer for.
