Road closures will be in place this Sunday 3rd July for the 4th Southport Half Marathon.For the first time Lord Street will be closed to traffic.

Local diversions will be in operation.

Sunday will see Southport Half Marathon return for its 4th and biggest edition to date with 2 brand new race distances and increased capacity on the new traffic free route that now includes Lord Street in Southport town centre and a start/finish area with live music and entertainment in Victoria Park which will be exclusive to competitors and spectators - for venue details click here

The new route will be the first running event in the history of Southport to be permitted to close Lord Street to traffic and allow 1000s of participants to run through the heart of this famous seaside resort!

The 10k and Half Marathon routes will start in Victoria Park as in previous years but will now head into town and along the famous Lord Street (a Victorian canopied boulevard edged in gardens), passing the Monument, War Memorial and Town Hall before the 10k turns left towards the Lake and the Half Marathon runners head North for a quick trip around Hesketh Park, passed the Golf Club and return to the coast before heading south towards the Marine Lake, then along Promenade and under the Pier, through Kings Gardens, around the Marine Lake and back to the coast via the lakeside pathway before heading south again and returning for a Finish in Victoria Park.

Both routes very flat, fast and traffic free with lots of PB potential!

The 1 mile fun run will take place within Victoria Park.

Car Parking will be available at Esplanade Car Park at the Eco Centre from 0700hrs with the event due to commence at 0900hrs.

Competitors will be asked to group themselves into the appropriate sections in the Start area according to expected time and electronic chip timing will be used to ensure all participants receive an accurate finish time.

The event will be run in accordance with UK Athletics Standards and Competition Rules.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female overall and Age Group Winners.

All entrants will receive a custom designed Southport Half Marathon, 10k or 1 Mile 2016 technical T Shirt and other goodies from our sponsors - all of which will be available to collect on race day on production of your official race number.

All finishers will also receive a custom designed 2016 Half Marathon, 10k or 1 Mile Medal at the finish line.
