A huge fire is burning at a waste transfer site in Prescot.Smoke could be seen from all areas in Merseyside.

Crews have been called out to a large fire at a Waste Transfer Facility at Carr Lane Prescot.
Crews were notified at 5.57 am and were on the scene at 6.03 am.

6 pumps and a combined platform ladder are in attendance.

The fire is approximately 100m x 100m located in a warehouse. There are no reports of any injuries or persons inside the facility.

Road closures are expected and residents nearby should keep doors and windows closed until further notice.

Firefighters continue to fight a major fire at a waste facility in Carr Lane, Prescot.

Half of the building nearest to Carr Lane is fully involved in the fire and part of the building is beginning to collapse.

The area involved has been divided into sectors and main jets and breathing apparatus are in use in firefighting.

Residents are advised to continue to observe safety advice as before until further notice.

Lucky nobody got hurt (yet) ‒ must've been busy at half five on a Sunday morning.
