Southport Local Policing Officers Constable Paul Greenwood and Police Community Support Officer Michelle Newman set up FRAUD WATCH last year, visiting banks and building societies in the town centre and holding fraud surgeries to educate customers regarding the various types of frauds that we have seen here in Southport and across the area as a whole.
This has proved popular with customers and businesses. Last week Paul and Michelle attended Barclays Lord Street to assist at an event with their “ Legal Eagles “ fraud team.
We are also assisting with Fraud surgeries in elderly homes etc giving basic advice. Details of the coming surgeries of this type will follow in another post.
Related to this is the arrest of a man by West Mercia Police, following a rogue trader incident in Southport in June this year. These surgeries are designed to help people spot the signs and avoid becoming future victims of these frauds/scams.
