In recent days West Lancashire has been targeted by criminals resulting in a spike in residential burglaries. The offenders have targeted domestic properties in order to steal a variety of items, with high performance/value vehicles appearing to be the primary objective. They appear to be unfazed by the prospect of dwellings being occupied at the time.

We want to take this opportunity to remind residents in West Lancashire to remain vigilant at all times, ensuring your properties are secure and all security measures are used. Offenders are using a variety of methods to gain entry to properties however appear to be deterred by working alarms.

Please ensure your alarms are set and any suspicious vehicles are reported. We also encourage the use of steering wheel locks and any other visible deterrents to protect your property. Make yourself a difficult target.

In response to this we will be running local operations in the area targeting vehicles and pedestrians acting suspiciously. We apologise in advance for any innocent stop-checks however burglars are not welcome in Lancashire.
