Would appear that SMBC are having this old, rotting structure slowly demolished on the cheap.

Yes and the scroats who are doing this quite probably visit this site and gloat about it and there work being famous, so keep up the free publicity and fuelling their lets vandalise mantra

Instead of having police officers while on duty, just idly driving around, and doing motorists for going over the ridiculous 20mph limits at dusk until dawn,an easy money making scheme, get them to monitor these areas of known activity, either through the CCTV,or by having plain clothes officers walk these areas,to hopefully catch these people unaware. As they MUST make a noise when doing these acts of vandalism, and officers driving around in a vehicle would not hear them, but out walking on the streets they may do.

I thought the police were to monitor groups of people walking around at nights ? Surely a group walking around these areas would have been picked up on the CCTV covering these areas ? And someone monitoring these cameras should alert the Police if they had looked suspicious, and could cause a problem.

Yes, but think of all the paperwork they'd have to do if they actually caught someone in the act. Police aren't bothered as the council will just pay for the repairs to be done over and over again.

The problem is there's no one organisation nor one central point for all the CCTV and there certainly aren't people sitting watching it 24 hours a day. Some of it will belong to private businesses whilst most of the council CCTV is to monitor traffic flow at junctions. Unless the actual criminal act is caught on camera then the chance of anyone viewing anything suspicious on camera as it happens is highly unlikely.

Regular patrols by residents with baseball bats would be more use.

I don't think there's supposed to be any commentary on the video. As is usually the case on this site the video adds nothing to what is already displayed in the photos.

Now I'm currious. How many motorists have actually been "done" for going over the twenty mph speed limit by these police officers idly driving around when you can count the number of police vehicles you see in Southport in a week on the fingers of one hand ? As for police patrols on foot, they went the way of the dodo bird a long time ago.

It would be interesting to see how many police we have in Southport. No one will tell you as it would be embarrassing.

A while back when we had to report something to the police and they took a while coming out - the officer said that there were only three full time officers on duty for Southport that day!!

So, in actual fact, telling off letters aside, no one has been "done"...?

We have some scum! in this town, national service would do them and society some good; their parents are trash and their kids will be trash you get dross from dross, if not national service then sterilization is the only way!
