Southport’s fourth annual Halloween festival saw thousands of visitors to the haunted maze and four days of great street entertainment!

Last week’s half term saw the annual spookfest, Spooky Southport, put on by Southport BID return with thousands enjoying a haunted maze and four days of spooky street theatre and performance.

Events enjoyed by 100’s of families from throughout Merseyside, Preston and beyond, included a ghost pirate ship with interactive shows, trick or treat trails around different businesses, a Greatest Showman street circus and giant dragon puppets!

Now in its fourth year, the festival centred around the two-metre-high maze in Town Hall Gardens. Designed to be a scary but fun family attraction, the maze entertained over 3,500 visitors over four days. Families were spooked and chased by all manner of characters as they made their way round.

Hugh Evans of the BID “We are thrilled with the new format of the festival. People came in from throughout the wider region and we had many people in town for more than one of the days to take advantage of great free entertainment, staying all day, eating out and enjoying the town centre. Almost half a million people have been reached via the Facebook campaign alone and the entire campaign itself keeps Southport at the forefront of family’s minds as a superb choice for a half term day out. It is a great way to animate the streets and keep Southport as a key destination for people during the off-peak season”
