With Liam Watson’s side grabbing another huge three points midweek, confidence will he high in the camp as they head into todays game against Boston United.

Things have really turned round for the the Port over the last few weeks, with the positivity of excellent cup runs seemingly now effecting the league games.

Tuesday’s victory over strugglers Hereford was massive. Not only in terms of points and trying to pull themselves out of the relegation zone, but because of the momentum it will bring.

Boston meanwhile are just outside of the play-off places, with mixed form enduring eight wins, one draw and eight defeats.

In terms of goal scoring Southport have only netted two less than Craig Elliot’s side this season, but defensively the Pilgrims have been far more solid.

The Lincolnshire side have only conceded 18 goals in their 17 games so far this season, giving them the fourth best defence in the league.

Without a victory in their last three games, United will be eager to get back into winning ways.

Their last win came against the Bulls, as they strode to a 3-1 victory.

Their biggest win of the season was against Blyth Spartans, as they put four past the Green Army.

One thing Boston lack within their side is a clear goal scorer, with Arnold and Allot having three each.

The Pilgrims currently sit in ninth, the same position as they finished last year and will be hoping to push things further.

Boston will prove to be another tough challenge but with recent form Southport can go in hoping to continue the run.
