    Police are investigating after thieves forced the doors on the Pier Pavilion .

    Merseyside Police is investigating following a burglary at the Southport Pier Pavilion.





    At approximately 9.30pm on Monday 27 June two unknown males entered the building, which is situated at the end of the pier, and searched the premises before leaving with a quantity of cash and alcohol.

    CCTV and forensic opportunities have been explored and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

    Anyone who saw anything suspicious or has any information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 101 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111."

    The café is a private business. Do you think every small business has the resources to constantly watch CCTV when they are closed?

    It's astounding that anyone would leave cash inside a building that is literally in the middle of nowhere, even if they had to force entry with tools nobody on land would hear a thing.

    Agreed. Also unless the burglar alarm (if they even have one?) is linked up directly to the police station it would be useless as both an alert & as a deterrent.

    Just a thought, and I have no knowledge of costs etc involved. But, maybe an alarm that triggers a police response might help? Let's face it, by the time they got down the end of the pier, the police could be waiting for them?
