Why not let the train take the strain if you're visiting MotorFest this weekend?

It returns on Sunday 28 August where 350 vehicles will be on show for the public.

With a fantastic selection of veteran, vintage, classic and contemporary cars and bikes covering over 100 years of motoring heritage and innovation, MotorFest once again promises to be a great family day out.

With visitor numbers expected to exceed 20,000 Northern Rail's amended its timetable to help people travel to the event:

Looks absolutely fine on paper until you start to think of the probs which can, and, do arise , re` signals, points etc. in the Sandhills/ Moorfields area.

Wouldn`t it be so much easier to travel from Southport to Preston by rail and then just hop on a connecting to train to Ormskirk? Dream on, dream on.

how could trains from PRESTON get delayed at sandhills?

Clearly you have missed the irony in my second statement my friend.

With regards to your question; what I was referring to there was highlighting the problems which can be experienced on the Merseyrail system from Liverpool to Ormskirk on occasions.

Train from Southport to Sandhills, then change onto the Ormskirk train from there.

Making the point of how circumlocutory the rail route to Ormskirk from Southport now is and how it is " easier " to get to Ormskirk - by car!
