Oh really? An honest post, God forbid! Move it if you choose, but you really don't do this forum any favours whatsoever. At least I give honest input and don't hide under various usernames.

john is the most honest , helpful antiques dealer I have ever met.
and I have met a few.
if people on here are suggesting that john is using this site to gain profit then they are absolutely crazy.
he probably owns half of halsall (lol) so I cant see his intentions on here to be profit driven.

Where to sell antique silver
I have some solid silver antique sugar tongs - not sure of actual date but I know they are about 150 years old.
Where is best place to sell them?

The world is full of opinions,
good luck with your tongs, it is a shame that people do not use cube sugar in this day and age.
The reason that cube sugar came into existence was because of Iran and a Mullah (religious man) said certain imported sugar was bad. Later he wanted to change and correct what he said, but because of Islamic law he could not change the statement. So he decided to say the bad sugar could be washed first to make the sugar pure. This is why you will find in some cultures the custom is to put the cube sugar in the mouth and sip and drink the tea through the sugar. Where in our culture we place the sugar in the cup with the tea.
A deal on the high street with your sugar tongs, could turn out to be much sweeter than a tongue in cheek with a cube of sugar
good luck ice117

Nomad ....they are called war mongering posts.
and you know exactly what I mean.
Theses are the posts that lead to a thread being closed
and hundreds of potential qlocal posters leaving the site because of bickering between posters.
It is the same situation over and over again. trouble after trouble.
Well that type of posting does not go on in the antique section.
It is not me who make sure of that, it is the posters, they appreciate the work that goes into running the antique section,
If only the forum posters appreciated in the same way what steve and admin have to put up with while they do a voluntary unpaid job.
The antique part of the site is run ( NOW YOU HAVE A FRIEND IN THE ANTIQUE TRADE) way ...............lets keep it like that.
with well over 2,000,000 views and only half a dozen posts having to be removed over the years. We are quite happy how the antiques section is monitored.
So if you want a FREE and I say FREE valuation or want to chat about antiques or you want to know where to sell your gold or silver or want an opinion or a date (circa) of an itemthen, please do not hesitate, just post.
nomad ..........
