thanks john,,i would love to own a collection of fine antiques and artwork for my self one-day...
but at the moment i have to look at all my purchases in a pure profitability aspect because if i want to do this for a career, with the idea of owning an antiques empire (like you have) it takes alot of money and discipline (or so i imagine)
thanks john again i am learning more in the past couple of months than i have in the last few years....
Remember the price you pay and the price you sell at = profit.
Some people like to own and some like to sell.
people judge a good buy in different ways.
If I like something and I pay less than I would have been prepared to pay ... then it is a good buy for me.
But if you are selling antiques like I do (for a living)
Then a GOOD BUY has to be come GOOD BY
Haha Vanny ... ?
I was just saying my opinion, and having my say, remember on these forums you can voice your opinion, I thought that was the point...
I never doubted Braina's antique knowledge, I was just mearly stating I thought it looks worse now than it did in my opinion... Nothing to do wih Briana just the horse.
It seems to be you are the only one who crack amazing jokes on this forum and if anyone else does you have just turned it into a argument, lol, I was only joking..
The antique trade has to be fun or I would not be in it.
You also have to love old things.
and the Old Things (woman) have to love you or you would not get your stock.
another tip for you.
A question Vanny, I am in desparate need of new stock I have a old chair a old gilt bust of Lord Byron, some waterclours, and that it about it, I go round the boot fairs these days and it is just the same old rubbish, moved from one stall the next, all the hardcore dealers sell in the winter, and charity shops these days are bombared by antique valuers locating the most valuable possesions for the shop and sell them elsewhere.
I have had a few conversations with people and they say they got stock in anyway they can, like they get their hands on anything they know may be worth a few bob, how do they do this, I have thought house clearence may be one option but then I would have to buy a van, (may be a good investment), also buying from Auction is OK but you will rarely find a BARGAIN, and normally you will pay a fair price, I think my next method will be my local ads, and online posting "In need of old / antiquey bits", what do you suggest John ??
