I am doing fine - Where is your source I am doing well? Or in that fact where is your source that any fine art / antique dealer is doing "well".

At the end of the day it is all swings and roundabouts and knowing where the most optimal place is of sale and if found is it worth the wait to sell it there.

One example of this is I recently purchased a painting attributed to John Downman on the bay for sub £100 to my amazement!

I took it into a auction and it is in there now with a estimate of £400 - £600, now if I was to put that back on the bay I would probably only realise around £250 tops.

Vanny - I like your idea about making a useless bit of old tat into something tangible, if only everything was that simple.

With regard to your idea about putting a photograph of you in a frame and re selling it, maybe if you signed the piece and gave added provenance it was done by you. Better still it may be more desirable if the picture inside the frame was of Jonathan Pratt and not you.

Anyway how's dealing going for you in general briana5125, purchased many Rembrandt's recently?
Forgive me for sounding terribly forward, but why do you write like you've got the keyboard part of this post has been removed or altered by admin

Superbead - What a ignorant comment from a non active poster, appearing in the antique section, just trying to stir up a bit of drama, this not eastenders?

The reason it sounds as if I have "got the keyboard part of this post has been removed or altered by admin is I can actually speak proper English other than words like "trash" as you so elequantly said it.

Is this really down to the fact that you can only construct a one line sentence which is completely off topic and which I may frankly say is absurd and laughable.

Now go troll some where else, if you haven't got anything which is of any use to anybody no need to post your trash.

Also, before you say "calm down", I can assure you that I am completely calm and do not have to result to the rubbish you have just posted.

Please put your ideas to make an antique more valuable and sent it to "up the price" c/o briana5125 at SGB.com

Absurd and laughable? Well, I do try, but you won't get more than one line of trash at a time from me, I'm afraid.

You did sound remarkably hoity-toity before, but you seem to have loosened up rather with your last post. Good going!

People can say what they like and the reason I may of sounded 2v" was probably because we were having a adult discussion. There is time were we have general good light ribbing fun, you just chose to enter at not one of those times.

Interesting prospective, but I would normally say it would be right up your street Briana, with it being a poor quality piece, trust you to spot it with your expert eye.

It is also funny, when posting a other 19th Century portrait earlier on at my stay here Vanny said good quality and worth around £500 - £1000 or a high estimate around that figure and that too had a "shrapnel" sized hole. Just shows you even the famous, experienced Vanny contradicts himself. :P

It is not the age as you know that makes an item valuable... it is the quality + other things

but as I have said time and again.

    It is only MY opinion.

advanced only you would say that,,it was only a year ago you were starting out buying tat from a bootsale and now your an expert,,i have been in the game for about 6 years and sometimes still buy tat from a boot sale (on the off chance)..

    dont take yourself too seriously.

    this is a funny game...

even a picture with a hole in it is valuable to a collector of pictures with holes in them..

    just gotta find one..

briana, you skin is way to thin...

Nobody is claiming to be an expert here, but I do have to commend you on trying to get personal with me when only a second a go you were participating in ridcling on your behalf as well as mine.

Also a little while a go I seem to remember you buying circa 2000 Chinese Vases's and thinking that they where antique and 19th Century even your eyesight can't be that bad...

Maybe your six years of experience may make your thoughts about old tat more valuable like sticking a clock face in a painting as quoted by "Tim Wanocote" by the way who is he?

Briana you do make me laugh though and appreciate the comedy, that is difficult to come by in the antiques trade.

Really? I think you have hit the woodworm on the head Vanny.L

Like I say I appreciate your opinion and even if I don't necessary 100% agree with it, it doesn't matter that is what makes the antiques place a more interesting experience.
