Your reasoning on cause of death is as usual total nonsense, sure death may be from organ failure of many types, but that organ failure is a result of the C-19 virus, it’s like saying a victim of shooting or stabbing died from heart failure.
The 50,000 is only excess deaths over and above the average of the last 5 years, if we take into account other influencing factors it may be a good bit higher, less traffic on the roads means less accidents, building sites and factories shut down means less workplace accidents and illicit drugs shortage means less overdoses.

Agree, but according to our newly returned “expert”, deaths overall are lower, as usual idiot features can’t see beyond the end of his nose, the reality is that over this winter deaths have been lower than average, until March, then everything changed dramatically, but in Said’s view nothing to do with C-19 of course.

I noticed last week on Question Time that the Scottish professor repeated the figure of 'over 60,000 deaths'. Nobody questioned it, nobody tried to correct her.
When the hospital deaths total was around the 20,000 mark, most considered that Corvid-19 deaths outside hospital was at least double that. So are we looking at 70,000+ attributable to the Coronavirus?
Should be interesting to see the figures in a few weeks, after the government basically said 'out you go then'.

With the amount of lies he comes up with he'd need binoculars to see past the end of his nose, he'll have no problem social distancing he can use it as a measure.

The problem is as many know a death certificate often contains many conditions and the problems filling one in are listed in this article;
https://www.mdedge.com/familymedicin...-easy-it-seems
Even with Covid being found with a confirmatory blood test it may not have been the actual cause of death.
We or rather they are guessing at the actual death rate.
With the virus wreaking havoc on vulnerable people it's going to take some time to figure out just how far the tentacles of this virus have reached and its greatest effect might well turn out to be on the survivors who may have long lasting damage as we are currently starting to find out.
There is a long way to go with this virus.

Good God, man! Can you not put two and two together? Everyone is under lockdown in the UK, while planeloads of foreign workers are being brought in from contagion areas without ANY checks. How does that work?
The countries where there has been most cases of this Virus also coincidentally are those same countries where the national economy has been falling for the past ten years.
Put all the Rules and Regulations together - and they are severely conflicting. You are not allowed to visit family members, but you are allowed to have a cleaner in? You are to remain two metres apart - but not allowed to drive anywhere alone in your car? You are not supposed to pay in shops with cash, you have to use a credit card and press the same keypad everyone else has used? etc.,
While this new outbreak rages on - what has happened to the normal influenza which the UK experiences every year?
If you read the reports on the number of deaths, you will see that they refer to deaths WITH not FROM coronavirus. From the medical journals it can be shown that most elderly people with other causes, commonly die from pneumonia. This is the main effect attributed to the 'new' virus?? These people have a number of viral infections it is almost impossible to detect which one they have died from.
The widely acclaimed PCR tests will still indicate a positive reading from people who have recovered from a slight infection and only have the dead cells in their bodies. Even, as it was shown in an experiment - fruit was found to be positive for C19.
Pharmaceuticals are the most profitable commodity in the world. The USA's highly profitable arms industry is worth a massive $28 billion, while the pharmaceutical industry is worth $365 billion.
Still - facts are facts, and if you accept that all the above is absolutely fine - stay in isolation where you will be safe.

We're desperate for agricultural workers after the government made it abundantly clear they weren't welcome here, then realised how badly they messed up?

I'd say the worst countries are where there are toxic idiots in charge. UK, USA, Russia, Brazil.

Yo were saying on another thread how intelligent and impressive our PM is. You explain how our wonderful government came up with this nonsense. Aren't they 'following the science'?

It's probably the same as always. I'd say the only difference is people are terrified to go to hospital in case they catch the virus. So less hospital admissions overall for anything other than Corvid-19.
Apart from all that usual nonsense, this is the end of lockdown. People have the attitude 'well if he can...'. Also after this weekend's issues, the PM was bound to come on TV and announce loosening of the regulations. He needed a distraction, and rarely goes on TV unless there is good news to offer. Otherwise he's mainly absent:
"All orders were now issued through Squealer or one of the other pigs. Napoleon himself was not seen in public as often as once in a fortnight."

Also:
ONS has new data on excess deaths.
In the last fortnight we’ve seen 27,230 deaths registered in England and Wales, that’s 38% above five year average.
Deaths in care homes up 125% of five year ave. for last week.
Deaths at home up 67% for last week.
Enjoy the lockdown being lifted, folks. I'm keeping my mask on and my distance.

That is where you are wrong. The UK and the USA, true! But Russia and Brazil's economies have risen. The last time the USA was in a similar position was in 2001.
No! Our government are not following any science. They are closely linked with the USA and the EU, they are following the money.
No! Even though the hospital intake for this 'outbreak' has been massively overrated by the media, Hospitals have been cancelling thousands of appointments dealing with emergency only patients.
No! From day one, people have been ignoring the lockdown. Town may have been deserted - but there were hundreds of people out along the country paths out of sight. We see so very few lovely sunny days - there were huge numbers out on the beaches on those days.

If we are desperate for agricultural workers why isn't there adverts in the shop windows and on every other lamppost advertising the jobs. My grandson and his mate are looking for a job but haven't seen any adverts, I don't fancy their chances much when the lockdown is lifted.

There's a lot of misinformation about agricultural workers, the reality is the farms and agencies want cheap live in workers from the traditional supply countries.
They want quite literally cheap foreign peasants.
Those with a broken political axe to grind spin endless tosh about it.

I wasn't talking about economies. I was referring to the outbreak itself.

I'm surprised to say that I agree with you. Not particularly about the USA and EU, but about following the money. Although, having said that, I think the government has done well when it has come to supporting the nation with the furlough scheme and supporting small businesses. Even Tories can see the benefit of socialism in times of crisis...

I don't know what the media has to do with it. The daily briefings usually provide us with information about hospitals, deaths etc. It is regrettable that so many treatments for conditions other than Coronavirus have been cancelled, but that really couldn't be helped. Not without the right PPE for starters. Then there is the amount of people in hospital for other treatments. You must have seen any hospital on a regular day, pretty much crawling with patients and visitors. That had to be stopped in light of a pandemic.

I suppose you take your chances as you see fit. If you were in a deserted area, then you're unlikely to catch it or spread it. People can use their own judgement. If you're on a beach with a lot of other people, you're an idiot. If the place is virtually empty with no chance of infection, that's a different story. The problem, particularly over the past few weeks, have been morons cramming into towns, beaches, beauty spots where not only is the chance of infection higher, the chance of you passing it on to innocent people is higher.
This weekend has been ridiculous in town and around the pier areas. I couldn't give a shiny shite if they infect each other. But for those of us who live nearby and decide we can't to enjoy our neighbourhood, it's quite galling.
