I wish you were right, it's criminal how much has been wasted for lanes that simply aren't being used anywhere near enough to justify them being built.

How many bikes per day in your opinion, would be 'enough' to justify a particular cycle-lane existing?

Well for many lanes above zero or one would be great it's clear the punters want leisure routes so spend the money on that.
More bang for our bucks.

Moving On.....
A number of travellers were on the move this evening....Noticed two or three of their 'rigs' heading out of town on Southport Road earlier. Couple of scrap vans towing caravans, along with a 4x4 towing small treesurgons shredder with a comical (and clearly illegal) numberplate: A1TREESERVICES - lol!

Yes, the site is clear of travellers but not their rubbish. Once again council tax payers are left with the bill.
Additional costs will include replacing a number (8-10) of flexible keep left traffic bollards which had only recently been installed. Potentially several thousand pounds damage.
What is wrong with these people - they have no respect for anything yet they expect society to respect their way of lfe.

As a mattter of interest, where were the 'bollards' located - and why would they want/need to damage them?

Around the area were the Park n Ride buildings are located, little traffic islands obviously travellers with their caravans cannot negotiate around, and cause the bollards to be damaged.

If the Council followed it obligations and set up a camp for transients they could move them on before they'd got a washing line rigged up.

Hmm Travellers don't agree with you
UK Traveller communities fear ‘cultural annihilation’ over upcoming trespass laws
Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people face imprisonment or hefty fines under new England and Wales Police Bill that ‘criminalises’ nomadic life
https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/ope...-annihilation/
Or you could vote Labour or the Dums and keep on getting them.

It’s good that they have gone as they could pick a better place because they were too close to the school across the road as the kids WERE baiting them and getting them to chase them on their quad bikes, local children didn’t understand that travelling children won’t pretend to fight them they will proper batter them, the school is aware of this and this has been going on since early June when they appeared.
On another note.. totally separate from this kids go missing all the time and in early June 2 kids went missing Aron and Craig have they found them yet?, there has been no update on here regarding their return or have we all forgotten about them .

Obviously, travellers are opposed to the Bill. But regardless of what form it ultimately takes, travellers will not suddenly vanish into space. They will still exist the day after it becomes law and will still park their vehicles and caravans wherever they are albe to.
From my own perspective as a motorhome owner, who makes use of free pitches whenever possible, surprisingly I don't see it as a threat per-se when we're travelling. Since I never cause problems or leave litter, and always leave promptly if a landowner asks me to, I don't anticipate the Police will ever need be called to move me.
