We see quite a few old buildings either fall into disrepair or pulled down, then lots of lovely plans to build this and that in its place, then zilch.
I recall the flash new hotel and apartments that were supposed to be built on the site of the old Kingsway club. Still waiting. The wondrous new lagoon that is now supposed to be built half a mile down the road. The replacement for the Floral Hall seems to be happening, but I won't hold my breath until it's completed.
There have been a few success stories. The Vincent in place of the old cinema. The Grand taking up much of the old casino. But the building on the Prom that housed the new casino - now vacant - is a white elephant. Never fully utilised, now completely empty.
Fingers crossed that the plans for the old Debenhams store and the Garrick come to fruition. Or they'll end up like 'Leos', a rotting eyesore.
Sign of the times, I guess.
Sadly not just a sign of the times. There was the £40 million pound Winter Gardens development (now the current Morrison’s) which went tits up, one third of the way through it’s development back in the late eighties / early nineties.

And there was me thinking Titsup was a village in the Peak District.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten that one. Wasn't it a pumping station or something like that?
And there's the old Victoria Baths. Beautiful building but boarded up for years. I recall going round the old nightclub a few years ago. A real mess inside. I'm surprised nobody took on the old 'Cue Bar' section, but I imagine it's in the same state now.

I can see the new theatre / conference centre going the same way.
Hope I'm wrong.

Might be more opportune actually. Conference centres have been closing all over the world since the onset of video conferencing. Far better to have a good live music theatre, an indoor circus or a decent ice skating rink with regular shows.

Been sold twice but Sefton sell to people that have not got a pot to p*** in and end taking it back.
Have a look at the survey and see what the biuiding needs doing to it.

If it was, as I think, a water pumping station I don't think it would be Sefton's to sell.
In any event if it was theirs, and they didn't sell it, they would be attacked for that too.

It was a pumping station for drainage, I think it was also used by the Kings Gardens gardeners as well, the Council have had it on the 'disposal list' for many years, I believe that any proposal for the property that wouldn't cost the Council money would be welcomed with open arms.

The owners of the Garrick have made, and are continuing with a planning application. It is a very large and lengthy application and they are waiting approval.
