Looking at the footage the tree obscures the view of the junction, as the driver passes the tree and the junction comes into view there is a cyclist already waiting to turn left, this cyclist obscures the view of the cyclist who doesn't bother stopping, a tree, another cyclist both blocking the view of the 'Darwin award contender' gives the motorist little chance of avoiding him.

An alert driver would have already been on the brakes, before the bike came in front of him....That's the difference between 'zombie' drivers, who only look in front - and clued-up drivers, who study what's going on along pavements and what's coming up at side-roads, etc.

No matter how alert the driver having some idiot cyclist ignore the stop line and career trough the junction doesn't make the driver at fault.

Why would the driver be on the brakes, his right of way, likely seen the cyclist waiting at the junction, so no reason to. Why would he assume some moron (obscured by the waiting cyclist) would run the junction, the cyclist was at fault, end of.

I'm reaching for the Anadin as no doubt I'll be banging my head against a brick wall before you admit it was the cyclists fault and no blame on the driver.

You're not quite getting my point mate, I'm not blaming the driver for the cyclists obvious bad judgement. What I am saying, is the driver should be far more aware of his/her surroundings. Far too many of them, just focus on the car in front and don't brake unless someone gets in their way. Drive like that and sooner or later you'll hit something.

Where do you go for inspiration for your opinions, Mystic Meg ? In your view Mr Motorist should be aware of things out of sight, know beforehand that another road user is some sort of brain dead moron who will ignore every rule, law even self preservation.

Most motorists are very aware of what’s going on around them, they wouldn’t last very long otherwise, or should we slow to walking pace at every junction no matter who has right of way, just in case some suicidal maniac is going to press on regardless.

Your obsession destroys any reality or common sense.

So... once again you put the onus on the driver. No mention of the cyclist not even attempting to stop?

As you seem to genuinely believe you are the perfect driver, here's a word of warning.

At some time or other you will experience a severe shock when you discover that you are not as invincible as you so fondly imagine.

The perfect driver wouldn’t dream of doing the following. “Because I now give it the beans a good distance before the limit changes, leaving any would-be shmo standing”.
Far from being perfect, he is a RECKLESS and DANGEROUS driver who in reality shouldn’t be behind the wheel of a motorised vehicle.

Not to mention "deliberately accelerating to the speed limit" not just once but "every time" to prevent someone from overtaking.

"No. I deliberately accelerate to the limit every time it changes, regardless there may be nobody behind. And when there is, I do it earlier now...forestalling any moves by dummies".

Worrying about wasting a gulp of fuel rather than the safety of other road users, who may be in the wrong but fair game in the world of PNP.

Having 'right of way', is no excuse for carrying on regardless of there being potential for a collision. If such incidents are to be avoided, we must all make allowances for others mistakes.
