Hundreds of Orange Lodge members marched through Southport this morning to celebrate the 12th July to commemorate the Battle of Boyne, which occurred on Ireland’s east coast in 1690. It's also known as "Orangemen's Day", "Orange Day", "the Glorious Twelfth" or just "the Twelfth".

There was a large number of Police on duty to ensure people behaved themselves.

Good god what a bloody mess, should be renamed parade of w#=-#;s and pisheds. For those who say it brings money to the town it also costs more money to police and clean up after this shower and how many keep out of the town on this day. Kick them back to Liverpool.

Why do we have to suffer this every year as the previous correspondent writes the money they bring in is far outweighed by the cost of policing and dealing with the drunks afterwards. Send them somewhere else.

I love a parade but what the hell was that?

Drill - awful! Dress - awful, what an a absolute shower.

Overriding impression - profits at Liverpool branches of Slimming World have plummeted whilst similarly located branches of Greggs have seen profits soar.

Just wait till the march back p****d up doing that well known protestant anthem the hokey cokey.

Any truth in the rumour the police had to confiscate a flag celebrating a terrorist organisation at the parade?

It's more of a shamble these days. Some of the bands look like they've never marched together before, and the LOL (LOL) members are out for a stroll.

For such a crucial day, I'd have thought they would have drilled more.
