Armed Police have been seen in Slaidburn Crescent in Marshside, Southport today.

Police statement issued to Qlocal:

We had a report of a possible sighting of someone with a gun.

We attended and spoke to a member of the public who was in possession of an airsoft gun (replica toy gun). They were spoken to by patrols and given advice and agreed to take the gun home.

There is no suggestion the weapon was used to make threats or injure people and no arrests made.
