Police are investigating after a body was found in water at the Ribble Estuary Nature Reserve near Banks,Southport.

It is believed the body was found near Old Hollow.

The body was found at around 2.35pm on Friday.

The body is yet to be formally identified and police are treating the death as 'unexplained'.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "A post-mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death and enquiries will be ongoing to establish the identity of person and to ensure the next of kin are informed."

It isn't in Southport and Old Hollow is most certainly in Banks.

What ever the border is,,,,sad news for the family.
