Charlotte Nixon completed the two year Public Services course at Southport College in 2006 and since then her career has gone from strength to strength. After completing a BSc in Sports Science at Edge Hill University she began a physically demanding course of training at Merseyside Fire and Rescue, including specialist training to drive the fire engines.

Former Greenbank High School pupil Charlotte said “I am extremely grateful for the start I received at Southport College who encouraged my efforts and gave me a great start in my career choice. I will always be glad that I spent those two years doing Public Services.”

To keep up her fitness levels Charlotte likes to complete triathlons and this year completed the Race Across Britain cycle race from Land’s End to John O’Groats cycling an impressive 1000 miles, over 9 consecutive days and raising £800 for the Firefighters Charity for firemen injured on duty.

Well done to Charlotte! And we wish her all the best for her future career.
