Firefighters rescued a dog owner from the River Mersey close to Spaceport in Seacombe on Thursday 13th September.
Crews were alerted at 11.59am and were on scene by 12.05pm.
One fire engine and the rescue boat, Marine Fire One, were in attendance.
On arrival, crews found that one person had entered the water after their dog had gone into the river.
The person was retrieved from the river by crews before being assessed at the scene by paramedics. Two crew members from MFRS performed CPR on the dog, however it was deceased.
The RSPCA and Coastguard were also in attendance.
