The first Pink Footed Geese are arriving for the winter along the Sefton Coast now.
These marvellous birds breed mainly in Iceland and spend the winter with us, roosting out on the shoreline at key sites and generally commuting inland each day to feed.
Listen out for their evocative calls overhead and look for the distinctive "V" formation skeins in the autumn sky.
If you haven't heard any yet, you will soon as thousands will hopefully be arriving over the coming weeks.

These are lovely to watch every year as they fly directly over my house, I marvel how they must have been doing this since prehistoric times. I can look forward now to picking my times to put the washing out and pondering how every year they seem to accurately manage to Shite bomb my windows.
