The Trustees of Hesketh Bank Community Centre are jumping for joy after the National Lottery Community Fund confirmed £199,213 funding towards their new building.


This ‘match’ funding, along with £100,000 from West Lancashire Borough Council, £50,000 from Hesketh with Becconsall Parish Council and additional monies raised through activities and events by the Trustees, means that the project is almost a reality.


Steve Kirby, Chair of Hesketh Bank Community Centre, said “This is a key step towards our target of having a new Community Centre this year. But we can’t rest on our laurels, as we still need to raise a further £27,000 to ensure that the build can go ahead.”


Due to the Coronavirus, the committee of just six people had to celebrate via Google Hangouts but that didn’t dampen their spirits. Steve added, “We would like to thank all our supporters, especially the National Lottery, for getting behind the redevelopment project and believing in us. It will give us the impetus to deliver our promise of a great new facility for Hesketh Bank and the surrounding villages, even during these challenging times. ”
