News that a popular deli in Southport's ailing market hall closed on Saturday has come as no surprise to shoppers.

This from Julie's deli FB page: 'I am very sad to say that my lease runs out next week and Saturday 19th January will be the last day the deli will be open in Southport Market.

'I have enjoyed the last four years and thank all my customers and the friends who have helped and supported me.

'But there are new projects in the pipeline which I will tell you about as soon as I can so WATCH THIS SPACE. Julie'

Owner Julie - who is taking a short break before re-opening in Churchtown - said that over the four years she had the stall, footfall has been falling steadily, hence the decision to 'shut up shop'.

Obviously not popular enough.

Superb little deli that; best place to get a proper snack in town really. Best of luck to her in the next venture.
