The festive Nutcrackers funded by the Southport BID have arrived in various parts of the town centre.

They are fastened to posts with wire and not chained up.

A local early riser suggested that they will soon be on Ebay.

Interim BID Chair, Susannah Porter says of the trail; “We are excited to be bringing the Nutcrackers into the town. The tale of the Nutcracker Doll is a magical Christmas story and we wanted to bring that magic to Southport. The trail will add some festive sparkle and will be a great way to entertain the family in the run up to Christmas. We also want to give visitors extra reason to visit the town centre, and to give them an incentive to explore all that Southport has to offer
Southport will have added sparkle this year with our beautiful, hand built new decorations, our stunning 60-foot tree installation and we the Nutcrackers will be a beautiful and traditional addition”

I would imagine they would have anticipated this and could have fitted some GPS tracking device within ... the tech is cheap these days and very effective... if any go missing, activate the tracker and send the boys around.

This site became more depressing by the day - instead of praising something new and different all it can do is moan.

With regard to the cable it is probably stronger than a chain anyway

If they are going to nick them, then they will do so. wire, chain or string. That's what scum do.

Think the sites news writers need to go see a doctor about depression, They clearly have a very unhealthy out look on life.

Any updates on how many (if any!!!) have been stolen, or is this just some attention grabbing attempt to stir things up by the esteemed reporter?
