This is the aftermath of a minor RTA in Southport's busy Tulketh St. car park this lunchtime when a lady driver lost control of her MINI.

The front grille of the car was badly damaged with a number of witnesses interviewed by officers.

QLocal reporter Roger Blaxall arrived just as the local fire officers were ready to leave the scene after making it safe; he is still awaiting a statement from the Police PR office originally requested at 2.30pm.

Cars are such unpredictable things - you never know when a static one is going to lurch forwards or backwards, whilst walking in front of or behind one!

Better safe than sorry....Any static car with engine running, has the potential to 'bolt' in either direction without any warning. Either by jumping into gear while left unattended, or via unintended action by a dozy motorist.

Classic sexism and misogyny in the article.

It is pointed out that it was a lady driver, so why wasn't the sex of the 'officers' who interviewed her and the sex of the 'local fire officers' mentioned? Because it's not important? So why is the sex of the driver important, unless it's to reinforce antiquated prejudices?

Unless a car has a very faulty manual gearbox and auto's have a lot of safety features the "potential to bolt" is less than the odds of winning the lottery.

God you come out with some crap!

In other news, I see Grant Shapps is going to remove the loophole of killer cyclists only getting a maximum of 2 years in jail.

Be a good idea if he required bikes to have number plates too!!

Well, the one in the above pic appears to have crunched something or other, one presumes without the 'permission' of whoever was sat at the controls - duh!

Where is your evidence? All idiotic speculation accusing drivers of motor vehicles.

Go boil your head - idiot!

Yes it is surprising that with your engine running and your reversing lights on to leave a parking space in a supermarket car park how many people walk behind you. They obviously expect you to go forward over the car parked in front of you.

But until Roger gets to the bottom of the collision I suppose we'll have to just keep dreaming up stupid theories.
