We have a busy weekend ahead with a host of festivals and events in and around the city and we are encouraging everyone to enjoy all of our events safely this weekend.


The Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF), hosted at Sefton Park (Saturday 20 – Sunday 21 July) will attract large numbers of people with venues around the area expected to be busier than usual on both Saturday and Sunday.


The Vitality Netball World Cup 2019 is taking place from 12 July to 21 July at the ACC Liverpool Arena with the competition taking place in the M&S Bank Arena on the site, and thousands of people are expected to attend over the 10 days, finishing with the final on Sunday 21 July.


Tranmere Rovers take on Stoke City at Prenton Park on Saturday, 20 June, and there are even more events in Merseyside, including Cream Classical Sefton Park, Haydock Race Course, Shirley Park, St Helens, and the Walton Festival, Walton Hall Avenue.


Superintendent Mark Morgan said: "We have a really busy weekend ahead and we want to make sure everyone enjoys themselves but also that they stay safe. I know many people look forward to LIMF every year and we want everyone attending to enjoy themselves at what is set to be a really good weekend.


“We want to welcome everyone to the festival and remind them to remain mindful of local residents and other visitors who aren’t going to LIMF.


"Alongside the stewards and other partners, we will deal with any incidents swiftly. I would like to remind people attending the festival to keep their children with them at all times, drink sensibly and enjoy what the festival has to offer."


"As you know, Liverpool is a vibrant city with the benefit of playing host to a number of events this weekend. We therefore want to ensure people visiting Merseyside who are either attending the festival or enjoying the various other attractions Liverpool has on offer to leave with memories of a fantastic weekend and have the desire to return.


“While we don’t want to spoil anyone's fun, we will not tolerate anti-social or criminal behaviour and will of course assist in keeping all disruption to a minimum by working closely with our local council, event organisers and other emergency services.
