Following years of legal battles work on the new Sainsbury's store, previously Homebase, is now set to commence.
Sefton Council said that two legal challenges to this particular planning application have now ended and that they expect demolition works to begin in the coming weeks.
Public documents published this morning have indicated a footpath to the rear of the current Homebase building will be temporarily closed for these works, which are expected to last until May 2023.
