And it’s only going to get worse as more and more of the land on that site is built on and tarmacced over.

Everyone who knows the area said that this was obviously going to happen - many of the gardens on the site are waterlogged as well. It is going to need some very large drains putting in, leading to Fine Jaynes brook.

Wow ! 'The Venice of the North'.... I bet they didn't put that in the brochure. I wonder where they thought the water was going to go ? They must have known that the ditch on the other side of the site wasn't up to the job, or maybe they're just incompetent and they didn't. That was already being overwhelmed by heavy rains after they skimmed the site before they'd even built anything.

They better start getting Formby ready for the same thing, as they've just started setting-up the area by the Lighthouse roundabout to build on the flood plains. And there are opposed plans to build around the edges of Woodvale too.. Again on top of the FLOOD PLAINS!!

Passed Fine Janes Brook today, the water level is too high to be any use.

this is the result of big business manipulating the planning system....coming to your rd soon.....next is bankfield rd/rufford road estate...the drains are already overloaded....the new estate will be built on grade 1 agricultural land and below the sewer drain level...so they will have to create giant sewer tanks and pumping stations to reach the drains....when they go faulty....imagine the sewage backing out out of your drains and toilets.....its a flood plain, and no one cares

Surely the planning authority is a culpable as the builders when it comes to putting up more houses every time a piece of land bigger than a postage stamp becomes available. Both Sefton and West Lancs Councils are guilty of allowing more and more properties to be built, without a moments thought for the extra infrastructure or utility services needed. It seems it’s all about cramming as many people in to a small an area as possible, gathering in all the extra Council Tax, without providing the amenities which are an essential element of building a community.

Drove past the Formby site today. It’s a huge lake with a dumper truck sat there with the water level above it’s axles.

i believe that small housing estate in banks they build recently is serviced only by a 4" drain that connects to the main....it runs through someones property i know...they say in the mornings when you open the manhole the sewage is thundering through under great pressure and full capacity...imagine if it blocks up!!

Just came across this on the BBC website. Too late for Kew, probably too late for Formby too.
Environment Agency chief: Avoid building new homes on flood plains https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51620992

  25. Chas King says:25/02/2020 09:09 AM
With a growing population, the number of properties in the flood plain is likely to nearly double over the next 50 years. So what is the answer ? Where do we put people ???
