PC Steve Birtles commented...
I have been made aware of a social media post on the local Banks community page in relation to a suspicious vehicle that is believed to be involved in dog thefts.
Lancashire Police have had no reports of this and I would like to remind everyone that you should report any suspicious activity to Police as soon as is practicable, either on 101, 999 in an emergency or you can pass information to myself via email 6521@lancashire.police.uk
I would like to reassure residents that we have had no reports of dog thefts for over 3 months now and if you should see anything suspicious I would like to encourage you to report to Police with as many details as possible so that it can be investigated and action taken as and when necessary.
I appreciate that Facebook and other social media outlets are a great way to share information but please consider sharing this information with us as quickly as possible.
Many thanks
PC Steve

Yes I knew that, meant if the Police had done a check. Would assume they have?

PNC is only as good as the information that's stored. I'd be very surprised if a check hasn't been carried out, but from experience, if a vehicle is used in crime, they'll generally come back as showing 'in trade'.

I guess this is another way of saying, Don't start a witch hunt with no evidence.
