There will be delays. According to one customs expert, not so much in the first two weeks, then things will really go tits up. If it is delays in medicine or essential chemicals such as those needed to clean our water, we'll be in real trouble.
But I'm sure the rabid Brexiteers will give up their blood pressure, heart and diabetes meds for the good of the country. At least until we are past the 'teething troubles'.
Have they started recruiting the estimated extra 50,000 customs officers they need yet? I know they are recruiting portaloo companies at a fair rate of knots for the lorry drivers delayed in Farage's Garages.
I'm sure the government has plans. If there's one thing we've seen this year, it's how well the government plans things. I mean, they've had a good 8 months to manage the extra flu jabs necessary this year. And that's not gone wrong at all.

Regarding post #100: local, you remind me of an old pop-music lyric. I begin to understand your affinity with Donald Trump
…post #94 was not about Nigel Farage and #98 is not much about local!
You might have been getting somewhere if you had noticed that I pointed out "my hero" couldn't win a seat in Parliament hardly a fawning endorsement — post #100

Might it not be better if it created no delays as it did hold up French drivers and other EU members returning from delivering to their UK market.
I know it's big a shock but they are planning to deliver after Brexit as well.
Of course not, the additional checks were always going to create delays, everyone with any thought would realise that, we are moving from an open border with the EU, to exactly as any border with a foreign country, but of course Brexiteers for some obscure reason seem to think that the EU would fall over themselves to accommodate us, that was never going to happen, indeed why should it?
Of course any delays affects transport crossing the border, wherever they come from.

The Eco Clown is back, did you forget you wrote this;
Competitors? They were our partners until Brexit - duh!
A clown on a bike pedalling endless crap seems to sum you up pretty well.
You might as well wear the costume you have already honed the script to the edge of lunacy.

With our first Brexit New Year rapidly approaching, what music should we play, possibly The Final Countdown or more likely The Road to Hell?

I don't envy the truckers job, getting stuck with bureaucratic delays at EU borders, all thanks to the muppets who voted us out...Lucky that truckers at least have diesel cab-heating and a comfortable bunk to retire to. Hopefully also a fridge well stocked with food - and laptops/portable TV's to while away their many wasted hours.

I don't see the point in explaining anything to the short thinking remoaners they want to remain as a colony.
You say control of our waters they say mackerel.
Our wish to be an independent nation is beyond their institutionalised thinking.
They are in a cult.
How can they survive without "their church"

The only cult around this subject are the ERG, a close minded bunch of out of date imperialists, who haven't realised that the days when the sun didn't set on the British Empire are long gone.
Put it this way, if we could employ Trading Standards in this, Brexit and the perpetrators would have serious questions to answer, even you can't deny that whatever comes out, whatever Brexit we get, is not remotely close to the Brexit you were sold.
Penny Mordaunt, House of Commons today, babbling on about leaving the EU on an Australia type deal, we all know that this translates as a sweet FA deal.
We know we're leaving, we also know that the ramifications are shaping up to be even worse than Remainers suspected, the whole thing has been a farce from start, to whatever inglorious finish and the entire country is now stuck with it.
You particularly have been strong on the independence and sovereignty mantra, yet here we are scrabbling around like fish in a drying out pool, trying to rescue something, anything from this self inflicted mess.

It really is pointless discussing anything to do with the EU with you.
What on earth are you wittering on about the the ERG for ?
As you will no doubt have heard reported as nauseum this complete fabrication about Boris not wanting a deal is literally codswallop.
It's the EU wanting to keep us as a colony that is the problem.
All they have to do is leave us in control of our waters and our country.
That is what we were promised and I am glad that's what we're holding out for.

Fully expecting Johnson to emerge clutching a scrap of paper, declaring he's 'saved Brexit'. As I've mentioned, in a Chaimberlain-esque 'Peace in our time' moment.
Then come the first few days of January, it'll be 'see, everything is fine, those remainers were expecting the sky to fall like Chicken Licken'
I hope by the end of January, Brexiteers are proudly wearing 'B' badges, so they can be identified and thanked by the rest of us for bringing us to the sunlit uplands. I believe one Brexiteer is looking forward to '£1.50 fish and chips'. Sounds delightful. All those price drops, all those new jobs (especially in the North East car plants), all those empty lorry parks, all that sovereignty.
I'm looking forward to clapping every time I pass a 'B' badge holder. I think they are going to be sought out. For 'thanks'.

The EU will not give us a deal, At least not one worth having. Why should they? Why would they?
What do you think you are holding out for LOL. We'll get nothing. Well apart from more COD wars.
Industry is going to be screwed.
Not sure what it is you think we are going to gain?
Independence? We'll be no more and no less independent than where where before all this crap started. Difference is we'll now be tax heavier. Let see how far your pension goes post 2020.

That's all a recent invention, the promise was free trade without strings, not a chance, everyone who gave it a moments thought knew very well that there would be multiple strings.
Of course our representative on fisheries in the EU was less use than an old sock, but suddenly found a cause to hang his hat on, then we got the BS about fishing rights etc, knowing full well that most of our fishermen had already surrendered those rights, plus the bit that no-one mentions, our fishermen will also be disbarred from EU waters, remember the dispute over scallop catches off the French coast, that came about because we as in the British, opened the season for scallop fishing before the French, our boats gathered off the the coast at Le Havre to take advantage, next year, there will be no dispute, our boats won't be there at all.
Also worth noting we were also a part of the EU, a full member with some privileges at that, I have never said the EU is perfect, it isn't, but far better than being stuck like Billy no mates, and involved in constant bickering with the neighbours, yes trade will continue, but at a higher cost, paid for by the people of this country, the effects on industry will certainly show and all the signs don't look good, this pie in the sky of freely trading with the world, yes that trade will possibly increase, but only were there is benefit to the countries we trade with, no-one owes us a free lunch, again why should they?

I suppose this navel gazing will all continue if we have a deal ?
It is ridiculous to try and keep control of your "ex"
Boris is making the effort by going to see them this week further undermining the fairy story that he doesn't want a deal
Thankfully he doesn't want a bad one.
